1994 Jimsomare Zinfandel

In recent years, these five acres of 19th-centry zinfandel vines have produced between twenty and twenty- five barrels. This year’s crop was down by half. Monte Bello’s cool climate is far from ideal for zinfandel, but by limiting crop, opening the vines to sun and air, and waiting well into October, we manage to ripen the grapes. The ’94 is full and ripe, with intense fruit and very firm, lively acid. Lovely now, it will be at its best over the next five to seven years.
