October 2022
We are pleased to share the news that Ridge Vineyards has earned the Golden Vines Best Fine Wine Producer in the Americas Award for the second year in a row.
The winner was announced at the Golden Vines Awards Ceremony on October 16th in Florence, Italy. Paul Draper said the following words about the honor of winning this award:
“The importance of any award really depends on the individuals who judge it, and to have this international panel of wine professionals tasting for the Golden Vine Awards makes it, for us, truly an important award. We are delighted and amazed to be honored with the award for the second year in a row as the Best Fine Wine Producer in the Americas.”
–Paul Draper, Chairman of the Board
The Golden Vines hosted their first awards ceremony in 2021 and aims to become the definitive international award recognizing and celebrating excellence in the fine wine industry. The initiative is also designed to raise funds for diversity and inclusion-related wine education and scholarship programs.
Last year, London-based Liquid Icons surveyed nearly 450 leading fine wine professionals in 55 countries worldwide as part of the Gerard Basset Global Fine Wine Report to determine the winners of these prestigious awards. This year, that panel was expanded to include 950 industry experts worldwide.
The design and production of the trophy this year was an unprecedented collaboration between Amorim Cork of Portugal and London silversmiths’ Grant Macdonald, with the artwork design from Italian-Ethiopian artist RED LONGO.
Similar to last year’s iconic trophy design, Shantell Martin – last year’s artist and now Golden Vines® Artistic Director – worked with RED to create a design that fit the diversity & inclusivity ethos of the event and RED’s graffiti-street style of art.
“The Golden Vines Awards is a wonderful expression of the centuries-old intersection between wine, art, cork and nature. The intense, creative path behind the Golden Vines trophy design draws on that unique relationship, to deliver a beautiful celebration of the quality of the winners, the wines and winemakers that are an integral part of Amorim Cork’s global leadership” –Carlos de Jesus, Amorim
