Vintage Notes

In this excellent vintage, we harvested the York Creek zinfandel at ideal ripeness within a few days of October 1. For the first time in seventeen years Ridge has made this wine, a significant portion of the grapes were fermented with a floating cap, rather than submerged below the liquid. Aging took place in air-dried american oak, and–for additional depth and structure, five percent petitesirah was included four months prior to bottling. Intense fruit and fine balance make this a readily approachable wine. Its firm tannin ensures at least seven or eight years of further development. PD (5/94)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are perfectly matched. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
