Lytton Springs named in Vinous Top 100 Wines of the Year

The inaugural Top 100 Wines from the Vinous team was released this month. The wines ranked by the team consist of a range of wines from all over the world, which is why we’re especially pleased to announce that Ridge Vineyards’ 2021 Lytton Springs is listed at #20.

Lytton Springs is home to 100-plus-year-old zinfandel vines interplanted with petite sirah, carignane, a small amount of mataro (mourvèdre), and grenache. For decades, the field blend from this site has produced the quintessential example of Dry Creek Valley zinfandel. We’re pleased to see the same diversity reflected in Vinous’ Top 100 Wines:

Ridge remains a bastion for classically built, age-worthy wines. Although the flagship Monte Bello gets most of the attention, many other wines in this range are equally deserving. “The 2021 Lytton Springs is fabulous. Bright and vibrant to its core, the 2021 impresses with its poise. Readers will find a Lytton Springs that is very much in reserve, as opposed to the rest of the 2021s in this report, all of which are more approachable. Salivating acids and veins of tannin lend shape and persistence, but the 2021 needs time.
