“Wonderfully concentrated and full-bodied but somehow light on its feet. The limestone soil and Wente clone vines planted in 1982 help give it an almost dense but elegant feel, with minerals, lime zest, a touch of vanilla bean and chalk. Great balance and lively acidity lead to a long finish.”
“Graphite, tobacco, grilled plums, black olives and black cherries are held firmly by velvety tannins on a medium body at 13.3% alcohol. Tense, concentrated, linear and acid-driven while deep in black fruit and subtle oak accents. Grapes grown on Ridge’s Monte Bello property at lower elevations on the slopes.”
“This zinfandel-dominant field blend is ripe, delicious and lush, with light, spicy oak accents over plump blackberries, blueberries and vanilla bean. Saturated and opulent but not fat, as moderate tannins and some raspberry-like acidity balance the full body. 67% zinfandel, 20% carignan, 10% petite sirah and 3% mataro.”
“Made from estate-grown grapes growing next to the winery, this is 100% zinfandel. Full bodied, firmly tannic and structured for further aging. So concentrated, mouth-filling and delicious, with blackberry, black cherry and sage-like accents.”
“It’s Ridge’s first wine from this long-established zinfandel property in the Chiles Valley section of Napa, and it’s a great one. Full of just-ripe red and black fruit, hints of cinnamon, black pepper and sage give complexity and layers. Full-bodied.”
“A field blend from old vines, 61% carignan, 32% zinfandel and 7% alicante bouschet. Very fresh, well-balanced, even crunchy, with focused berries and black plums on a broad texture and full body.”
“This is the only Ridge zin that gets extra bottle age before release to develop more floral, evolved aromas and softer tannins. Great depth, luscious raspberries and blackberries and hints of wild sage.”
“Quite fruity and fresh at first, then firms up nicely with moderate tannins and good acidity. An appetizing texture, a reasonable concentration of berries and cherries and a tangy finish. Made from 80-year-old vines.”
“This full-blown, full-bodied wine is ripe and rich, oozing blackberries, black cherries and dark plums on moderate tannins. Made from the Benito Dusi Ranch. Includes 5% petite sirah.”
“This blend of grenache, zinfandel, mataro, cinsault and counoise from the winery’s estate vineyard offers just-ripe, plummy and peachy flavors with a hint of savory tea. It’s dry and light-bodied, but broad in mouthfeel, nicely firmed up by acidity and a hint of tannin. The oldest vines in this were planted in 1901.”
