This densely packed and deeply concentrated blend of Zinfandel with 16% Petite Sirah, 9% Carignan and 2% Mataro is practically legendary. It boasts subtle, complex fruit flavors ranging from raspberry to blackberry to blueberry, while a velvety texture of fine-grained tannins and a subtle raspberry-like tartness give it great structure. Aromas of wild sage and sunbaked earth lead to a smooth, supple texture and abundant ripe berry flavors in this full-bodied, well-balanced wine. Tart raspberry and rich blackberry mingle with very light smoky notes for good complexity. Best through 2028. —J.G.

Vivid, juicy and fresh berry flavors fill up this medium-bodied wine made from Carignan, Zinfandel and Mataro (Mourvèdre). It gushes blackberries, raspberries and a dash of smoky oak from the aroma to the finish. Light tannins and good, light acidity give it a nice snap in the texture. —J.G.

2019 Mazzoni Home Ranch

This deep and brooding wine blended from Zinfandel, Carignan and a pinch of Petite Sirah shows haunting aromas of roasted chestnuts and black olives, while rich blackberry and black-pepper notes dominate the flavors. A thick blanket of very fine tannins gives it a great, tempting mouthfeel and sets it up well for further aging. Best from 2026. —J.G.
