2008 Monte Bello (375ml)

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: Cola, menthol, dry rub spices
  • Flavor: Tart black cherry, cinnamon, mint, sweet tobacco, red peppercorn.
  • Additional Notes: Medium-plus acidity, high tannin, full body, long finish.
  • Decant to aerate and remove sediment prior to enjoying.
  • Wine Evolution: Can be enjoyed now, but will develop more complexity with age.

Production Overview

22 parcels totaling 60 tons from 58 acres went into the 2008 Monte Bello. Harvested from September 26 to October 16, with an average brix of 24.3°. Destemmed, uncrushed, whole berry fermented on the native yeasts, pressed after 6 days. Unfined, pad filtered and aged for 18 months in 98% new, 2% 1-year-old american oak, 2% new french oak used for comparison.
