Vintage Notes

This is our nineteenth zinfandel from York Creek, a mountain vineyard overlooking Napa Valley. For the first time, we have included a few tons of grapes from young vines on Kite Hill. The rest come almost entirely from the Race Track block. All the grapes were very ripe; the wine is big and rich in style. The new barrels used in aging, though limited in number, add to the spiciness typical of the vineyard. Petite sirah contributes structure and definition to broad, ripe zinfandel fruit. Enjoyable now with hearty fare, this lovely wine will be at its best over the next five to seven years. PD (3/95)

History

Since 1962, Ridge has championed single-vineyard winemaking, exploring California in search of great vineyards where climate, soil, and varietal are perfectly matched. Using traditional methods and minimal handling, we strive to produce the highest quality wines from superior and distinctive fruit. We are proud that our three decades are an integral part of California’s winemaking history.
