Light straw yellow in color, subtle aromas of honeysuckle, pear and wet stone. Dry and light-bodied on the palate with lively acid, citrus notes and a clean, crisp finish. JO (7/20)

Vintage Notes

Falanghina is a southern Italian grape from the Campania region. The grapes represent the entire production from a small planting on the Alder Springs Vineyard in Mendocino County. Subtle fruit and refreshing acidity is enhanced by the inclusion of two percent Picpoul. Best enjoyed over the next two years during the warm summer days.

History

The 2019 vintage marks our second small bottling of Falanghina from the Alder Springs Vineyard. Located in the far northern reaches of Mendocino County on the 6,000-acre Alder Springs Ranch, the vineyard sits just 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean and is an ecological gem as well as an ideal place to grow grapes. Planted to just over an acre of Falanghina, the extreme location and steep terrain produces white wines with distinct minerality and bright acidity.
